Very intuitive interface.

Ridiculously hard words even in early beginner lessons. Cant replay something after theyve just said it—if you dont learn it on your first hearing, youre hooped. No matter how many times I do the review exercises it prescribes, the number to review never goes to zero. The male and female speakers pronounce the same words quite differently. I tried many, many times to repeat a particular phrase exactly the way the female speaker was saying it, and it never recognized it as right. Later the male said it and I realized the female was adding an extra syllable. And the funny thing is that even though Ive repeated that phrase 50+ times by now, I cant even remember what it is. Hows that for effective teaching? No, this is not how Im going to learn Russian.

Very disappointed, their German course is absolutely great, unfortunately I cannot say the same for their Russian course. I bought subscriptions on both courses and for the Russian language I have to go to the website in orden to get acces to the "beginners" course which is kind of annoying since Im primarily a mobile user. Besides that, I dont see too much material to learn from. I throught this course would have the same level of quality than their German app, I was wrong. Id like to cancel my subscription.

great app. no complaints except that the pronunciation portion drives me insane. i pronounce the word like 1000x and it doesnt take or says its wrong and its frustrating. my husband is russian and he says my pronunciation was perfect, for most of the words, and no accent, but it keeps not taking and its aggravating bc it can be a useful feature, but it should be modified to work better, i use another app that is similar and has this feature and i have no problem with it.otherwise, its a great app. small detail that could be fixed with an update

This app helped a lot because I was struggling to learn this language and this made me finally learn how to speak it. Also, I can talk to my Russian friends and they understand what I am saying which is not what many other programs provide. Thank you Babbel

This is a great app that I prefer over Rosetta Stone, and its great to use in conjunction with Pimsleur to give you the visuals that are needed to learn the Russian alphabet to put it all together. I just wish there was a business Russian half of this program as well.

I have been wanting to learn a new language for a long time now ever since I stopped taking a world language class in high school. Now that I graduated and I have a lot of spare time I can learn Russian finally.

Ive used a lot of different language learning programs, including the very expensive Rosetta Stone. And Babbel is one of my favorite recommendations. Its a lot more fun and natural learning than traditional wrote memorisation. Highly recommend!!

Yes you have to pay, but you get to try the first lesson for free. I picked 3 months for $19.99, theres another option for 1 month for $9.99 and 12 months for around $60. But trust me youll get hooked right away. There are lots of different methods this uses: such as spelling with the keyboard using the foreign letters (very cool), using the mic and pronouncing (sometimes doesnt work but you can skip it), filling in the blank, etc. and there is also a dictionary of words youve learned so far so you can review. Only problem is that the mic kind of works 60% of the time, would be cool if they put the english pronounciation (like ah-sahh-ee or something).

Ive used Rosetta Stone and had a hard time learning because it assumes youve already learned the alphabet for the language its teaching. Other free apps do not compare for those which actually have Russian. This app gives a little of everything as you go, introducing new letters and words progressively so you can hang it off of the understanding you already have with English with reviews along the way. Just make sure you really understand what is covered in the review before moving on, otherwise you will struggle as the next lessons really dive in and assume proficiency on previously covered material. I suggest you use in-ears with a built mic. The tiny speaker cant properly convey the dictation without low end frequency response.

The low-price pulled me in, but it really is a great product. It doesnt feel like work using the app, its fun!
